Title is a great song, and also an amusing statement if one has synaesthesia. I got some new headphones today, over the ear rather than buds. Cheap ones, too, nothing special… but I haven’t had a pair for… well, probably since before I was hospitalized in January. And as soon as I put them on and hit play on my phone… immediately I remembered how much it calmed me to wear them.
Time to get serious.
Not quite what I expected my first blog post to be about – but then, sound sensitivities and auditory processing challenges are no fun when trauma makes me forget just how helpful sensory tools can be.
It also doesn’t help when my ASD diagnosis is ignored, disregarded, invalidated even, in favour of psychiatric diagnoses, chemical restraints and involuntary treatment. This has gone on long enough.
